There are mobile apps for almost anything these days, with over 5 million available across the two most popular platforms. So, it can be difficult to find the best ones out of all those that are ‘less useful’.
While there are not millions of poker apps available there is still quite an extensive list, which can make it tough to find the right one for you. The decision is made even more difficult if you include the mix of free play and real money apps for players to enjoy. Also, it is worth noting that the real money apps are only fully playable in the states which have legalized poker.
So with all of the above in mind, we have picked out four of the best so that you don’t have to spend hours searching through the app stores.
World Poker Club – Free
This iOS and Android app has been available for a few years now, but it still popular because it’s a good representation of poker. The gesture system which players use to check, bet and fold is pretty unique too. For players that are used to being at the table, they will be familiar with tapping on the table to check or call and to do it on a mobile app is pleasantly reassuring. It’s a nice touch, and something that adds a little more immersion to the experience.
World Series Of Poker – Real Money
For a lot of avid poker players, this is their go to app. The game has a lot of options for those looking to enjoy a game of poker. It’s easy to navigate, relatively straight forward and you can be ready to play pretty quickly. The more social players will see that there is a chat box they can use to communicate with fellow players. However, it can be a little difficult to navigate whilst playing. Alongside the single games to drop in there is also tournament play. But do note that the prizes for winners don’t include money. Some winners will earn satellite entries for live World Series of Poker events too.
GGPoker Mobile App – Real Money
GGPoker has an ace up its sleeve in that you can use bitcoin to fund your time at the table. It is one of the few titles where cryptocurrencies can be utilized for real play, and it’s something which is a growing trend in the online poker world. Multi-table play is one feature this game has, although it can be a little mind boggling for the inexperienced player. Should you be successful though, GGPoker contains options to share your special winning moments on social media too. It’s a good title but it has to be said this is one more for the poker purist than the occasional poker player.
Governor of Poker 3 – Free
Governor of Poker 3 is one of the best looking poker games out there. It has a fun graphical style, and actually looks a little bit like a top down version of the recent hit video game Animal Crossing. In fact, the similarities continue as there are missions and daily challenges to win extra chips too. In a weird way, you could say it ‘gamifies’ poker even more to give it a different twist. All in all, Governor of Poker 3 provides an excellent experience for new players and a decent challenge for the more seasoned player too.
