What has been trending on TV this month? What could you have possibly missed now that the eve of the scariest day of the year approaches? You know what the eve signifies, right? The approach of Halloween! Wait until I round up the best list of movies that have been gaining traction on Netflix this month. The interesting thing is that nearly all of them follow the same theme: horror!
Check out the creepy and bone-chilling films that Netflix has been featuring this year. If you have not watched them, reserve them for the 31st and prepare to sleep with the lights on. Before we jump to the movies, it is important to mention the fact that you will need a fast and reliable internet service that can easily buffer these movies in HD resolution without any interruption. So, if you are looking for such blazing fast internet connectivity, then check out CenturyLink as it is undoubtedly among the most reliable ones, allowing you to stream as much content as you like. With that said, let us get to the best horror movies on Netflix.
The Shining
This movie might be one of Stephen King’s least favorite adaptations. However, for us horror enthusiasts out there, it is a classic number. It explores the phenomenon of ‘cabin fever’ with a touch of paranormal, like none other. That is why it still stands in our memory as a Kubrick game-changer. It is currently available on Netflix, so do not miss it.
Malevolent
Angela and her brother, Jackson, are scam paranormal investigators. They have quite a goodly number of tricks up their sleeves to convince their vulnerable clients of the whole act. That is until they are invited to an orphanage by Mrs. Green—a mansion that is haunted by the ghosts of young girls murdered by an unknown entity. This is where their cons come to naught and they face horror in the truest sense of the term. Check this movie out on Netflix and prepare yourself for the chills to come.
Apostle
Directed by Gareth Evans—best known for the films ‘The Raid’ and ‘V/H/S/2’—this movie is a mind-twister with a tinge of horror. It follows the story of Thomas Richardson in the year 1905 when he returns home to find his sister missing and being held captive by a religious cult. Bent on getting her back, he travels to the island where the cult lives and discovers a horror beyond comprehension. To find out more, watch the season on Netflix.
The Haunting of Hill House
Oh. My. God.
That is all I can say about this series. This adaptation of the 1959 horror novel simply blows your mind away with its intricate details, its multiple story angles, and not to mention, its boatload of jump scares which are enough to make you scream in the middle of the night. It is a must-watch number, I assure you.
Haunted
This season is more like the paranormal reality shows, which you usually watch on TV, hooked with a high-speed internet service. However, what is special about this Netflix original series is that it takes the horror element up a notch with its dramatic recreations. Each episode is a standalone story. Do give the ‘slaughterhouse’ one a shot.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Young sorceress in training. Demon worship. A town full of horrors.
This new series has got everything right. Just check out its trailer and you will get the spooky vibe. Based on the ‘Archie’ comics and created by the minds behind the ‘Riverdale’ series, the ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ features a teenage witch on the brink of her 16th birthday, where she must choose between the human world and that of the spirits. Catch it on Netflix to see how it plays out.
Castlevania 2
Dracula. Just the word itself sends heavy chills down your spine and manages to raise the hair at the back of your neck. The western filmmakers have tried their hand again and again at the gothic emblem, but this new series, actually a sequel, uses anime as its medium. Therein lies the appeal. If you want to satisfy your bloodlust, do watch this season’s sequel, and you will not be disappointed.
Under the Shadow
A horror set through the pages of history when war erupted, and a woman and child were stranded in a haunted Iran flat. The movie is beautifully directed, with a strong narrative and realistic scares that give the viewer creeps for days. The movie is originally in Persian but that should not stop you from watching this wondrous creation. It has a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes!
True horror is not when a witch appears on your screen but it is when the internet you have paid for stops working during a much-awaited movie you are watching. To get entertainment at its best, sign up for CenturyLink’s services and enjoy some great paranormal movies today!
